Notes:
This article describes how to change candles for Hyundai. Replacing candles should be done every 30 thousand km. mileage or more often.
Replacement and maintenance of spark plugs Hyundai Elantra
1. Remove the engine trim cover as described in this article .

2. Unscrew the bolts securing the ignition coils and remove their bolts.


3. Remove the ignition coil from the spark plug well.

4. Insert the spark plug wrench (or a 17 mm socket with a rubber grommet to hold the spark plug) into the hole where the ignition coil was and remove the spark plug.

5. Remove the spark plug from the spark plug well.


Note:
Check the spark plug wells for oil. If there is oil, check the cylinder head cover gasket and the spark plug well gasket.
6. Inspect for damage to spark plug electrodes and insulators. If there is damage, you need to replace the Hyundai spark plugs.

7. Check the gap between the spark plug electrodes with a feeler gauge.


Note:
Standard value: 1.0 - 1.1 mm.
If the gap differs from the nominal value, adjust it by bending the side electrode.
WARNING:
Adjust the gap only by bending the side electrode. Any bending of the center electrode will break the spark plug insulator.
8. Remove and check the remaining spark plugs in the same way (as described above).
9. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
