Skoda Octavia instrument cluster

The following devices, control and signal lamps are installed in the Skoda Octavia A5 instrument cluster:

1. The tachometer shows the engine speed. The scale has divisions from 0 to 7000 min-1, the division value is 100 min-1.

2. Burnout indicator for one of the light signaling lamps.

3. Warning lamp failure of the electronic anti-theft device (immobilizer).

4. Electrical power steering failure warning light.
When the ignition is turned on, the lamp lights up in red, indicating that a control test of the electric amplifier system is being carried out. If a malfunction occurs, the lamp may turn yellow or red. A yellow light warns of a minor malfunction. If the lamp lights up red, you must immediately contact the service. Simultaneously with the lamp lighting up in red, a warning sound signal is given three times. The lamp turns off only after a signal is received that the system is in full working order. The test takes approximately two seconds. After starting the engine, the lamp goes out.

5, 9. Control lamps for turning on direction indicators (with a green light filter in the form of arrows). Light up with a flashing light when the direction indicators or alarms are turned on. The blinking of the control lamp at a double frequency indicates a lamp burnout in any direction indicator.

6. Coolant temperature gauge in the engine cooling system. Shows the temperature of the coolant in the engine. If the motor is subjected to a high thermal load (for example, at high ambient temperature), the pointer may move briefly to the right side of the scale.

7. On-board computer display.

In the event of a malfunction, the following signal lamps are displayed in place of the clock:

1. Signal lamp for the minimum reserve of fuel in the tank (with an orange color filter). Constantly lit when the remaining fuel in the tank is about 5 liters.

Warning:

If possible, avoid operating the vehicle on reserve fuel. The operation of the electric fuel pump in the absence of a continuous supply of fuel with air entering the system will lead to the failure of the pump!

2. Alarm lamp for emergency oil pressure drop ( with red light filter). Lights up when the ignition is turned on and warns that the pressure in the engine lubrication system is below normal. Immediately after starting the engine, the lamp should go out.

3. Signal lamp of insufficient engine oil level. Check engine oil level.

Warning:

The movement of the car with a burning signal lamp is prohibited, as it leads to engine breakdown.

4. Warning light for front brake pad wear. Check the degree of wear of the front brake pads;

5. Signal lamp of insufficient fluid level in the washer reservoir. Stop and check the fluid level;

6. Signal lamp informing about the opening of the trunk lid;

7. Signal lamp for engine overheating or insufficient coolant level. Stop and let the engine cool down, check the cause of the warning light.

8. Fuel gauge.

10. Signal lamp of insufficient pressure in the tire of one of the wheels.

11. Warning lamp reminding you to press the brake pedal (optional). This is required when shifting the selector (lever) for automatic transmission or DSG dual clutch transmission from the "P" or "N" position. Additionally, a message may appear on the on-board computer display reminding you to press the brake pedal.

12. Warning light for a malfunction of the ESP electronic stability control system (optional). When the ESP system is activated, the lamp starts flashing. If the light stays on, the system is faulty or disabled.

13. The speedometer shows how fast the car is currently moving. The scale has divisions from 0 to 240 km/h, the division price is 5 km/h.

14. The driver's seat belt warning light comes on at speeds over 10 km/h if the driver's seat belt is not fastened.

15. Signal lamp for parking brake and brake system status (with red light filter) Lights up when the ignition is turned on in the event of an excessive decrease in the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder or when the parking brake lever is raised.

16. Warning lamp for malfunction of the anti-lock braking system (with a yellow filter) To check the health of the system, the lamp lights up for three seconds when the ignition is turned on (it can light up simultaneously with signal lamp 15), after which it goes out. In the event of a failure, the lamp is permanently on.

17. Warning lamp for low battery (with red light filter). Lights up when the ignition is turned on. Immediately after starting the engine, the lamp should go out. lamp burning or glowing with the engine running indicates a lack of charging current caused by a malfunction of the generator or voltage regulator and weak tension (or breakage) of the accessory drive belt.

Warning:

Driving a car with a burning lamp is prohibited, since, in addition to a complete discharge of the battery, this may indicate a short circuit in the electrical circuit, which leads to a fire.

18. Signal lamp for a malfunction of the airbag system or malfunction of the seat belt pretensioners.

19. Warning lamp for a malfunction in the gas distribution system (you must contact the service center).

20. Warning lamp for a malfunction in the engine management system (with an orange color filter). Lights up when the ignition is turned on and lights up when the engine is started. Immediately after starting the engine, the lamp should go out. If the lamp comes on when the engine is running, it indicates a malfunction in the engine management system. In this case, the control unit switches to the backup program, which allows you to continue driving. When the lamp lights up, it is necessary to check the electronic control unit using the self-diagnosis function and eliminate the malfunction.

Warning:

Prolonged operation of the car with a burning (and even more so with a flashing) lamp is not recommended, as it can lead to an increase in fuel consumption, a deterioration in the traction characteristics of the car, engine breakdowns and its systems.
