On Skoda Octavia cars equipped with a manual transmission, a dry single-plate clutch with a central diaphragm spring is installed (Fig. 701).
The Skoda Octavia clutch pressure plate is mounted in a stamped steel casing 3. attached with six bolts to the engine flywheel 1.
The driven disk 2 is mounted on the splines of the input shaft of the gearbox and is clamped by a diaphragm spring between the flywheel and the pressure disk.
Rice. 701. Clutch Skoda Octavia:
1 - flywheel; 2 - driven disk; 3 - clutch cover with pressure plate; 4 - a bolt of fastening of a conducted disk.
The clutch release bearing 1 (Fig. 702) is adopted on the guide sleeve 2, pressed into the clutch housing, and moves along the sleeve with the fork 3, which, in turn, drives the clutch release hydraulic slave cylinder.
Rice. 702. Skoda Octavia clutch release mechanism:
1 - clutch release bearing; 2 - guide sleeve of the clutch release bearing; 3 - clutch release fork; 4 - clutch housing.
The hydraulic clutch release actuator consists of a master cylinder 4 (Fig. 703) installed in the engine compartment, a working cylinder 14, a pipeline 10, including a tube and hoses, and a clutch pedal, the bracket of which is attached with nuts to the front end shield of the body.
Rice. 703. Hydraulic clutch release Skoda Octavia:
1 - reservoir for brake fluid; 2 - spring clamp; 3 - supply hose; 4 - clutch release master cylinder; 5 - clamp; 6 - tip of the clutch master cylinder rod; 7 - clutch pedal; 8 - a nut of fastening of the main cylinder; 9 - sealing ring; 10 - pipeline; 11 - holder; 12 - sealing ring; 13 - clamp; 14 - clutch release slave cylinder; 15 - a bolt of fastening of the working cylinder; 16 - air valve; 17 - dust cap; 18 - gearbox; 19 - bracket; 20 - bracket mounting bolt.
The pedal is returned to its original position by a spring.
The master cylinder is connected by a hose to a reservoir mounted on the master brake cylinder (the reservoir is common to both master cylinders). The hydraulic clutch release uses brake fluid. Adjustment of the clutch release actuator during operation is not provided.
HELPFUL ADVICE
In order for the clutch of a Skoda Octavia car to serve for a long time and without fail, do not constantly keep your foot on the clutch pedal. This bad habit is often acquired while learning to drive in driving schools for fear of not having time to turn off the clutch while the car is stopped. In addition to the rapid fatigue of the foot, which is all the time above the pedal, the clutch is at least a little, but squeezed out, while the driven disk slips and wears out. In addition, despite the fact that the release bearing is designed to operate in constant rotation mode, even if the pedal is pressed a little, it is under increased load and its resource is reduced. For the same reason, we do not recommend keeping the clutch off for a long time (for example, in traffic jams). If you don't have to move right away, it is better to put the gearbox in neutral and release the pedal. Clutch slip can be easily determined by the tachometer. If, while driving, with a sharp press on the accelerator pedal, the speed rises sharply, and then drops a little and the car starts to accelerate, the clutch must be repaired.
