Instruments:
- Ruler
- flat stylus
- Nozzle on the crank 10 mm
- socket wrench
Parts and consumables:
- penetrating dye
- cylinder head
1. Remove the cylinder head .
2. Remove covers and bearings of a camshaft .
3. Using a ruler and a flat feeler gauge, check the warping of the surfaces of the cylinder head mating with the surface of the cylinder block and with the surfaces of the intake and exhaust manifolds.
Scheme for checking the warping of the surfaces of the cylinder head
Maximum Warp Tolerance:
– the party of the block of cylinders – 0,05 mm;
– side of the intake manifold – 0.08 mm;
– side of the exhaust manifold – 0.08 mm.
4. If the value of the warpage plane exceeds the maximum allowable, replace the cylinder head. Using dye, check for cracks in the combustion chambers, inlet and outlet ports, and at the gas interface. If there are cracks, replace the cylinder head.
