You will need: key "19", tester, thermometer.

Note:

The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the outlet pipe of the engine water jacket.

The sensor checks the resistance at the terminals at various temperature conditions.

Checking and replacing the coolant temperature sensor Ford Focus 2

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

2. Drain the liquid from the engine cooling system.

Useful advice:

When replacing the sensor, the coolant can not be drained: after removing the sensor, plug the hole with your finger or a plug - the loss of coolant in this case will be minimal.

3. On engines 1.4 and 1.6 l R4 Duratec 16V, as well as 1.6 l R4 16V Duratec Ti-VCT, by pressing the latch, disconnect the wiring harness block from the sensor, loosen the tightening wrench and unscrew the coolant temperature sensor by hand .

4. On 1.8 and 2.0 L R4 Duratec-HE 16V engines, disconnect the spring clip, compress the retainer and disconnect the wiring harness connector from the coolant temperature sensor.

5. Remove the spring retainer and pull the Ford Focus 2 engine temperature sensor out of the distributor housing.

6. Connect the tester to the sensor terminals and measure the resistance, and measure the current temperature with a thermometer.

7. To measure the resistance at the Ford sensor terminals under various temperature conditions, lower the sensor into hot water and check the change in its resistance as the water cools, controlling the water temperature with a thermometer.

8. If the resistance deviates from the norm, replace the sensor.

9. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

10. Fill in coolant.
