Checking and replacing the reverse light switch in a Ford Focus 2 car

Tools:

• Key 22 mm
• Key 10 mm

Note:

The reversing light switch on the Ford Focus 2 is installed at the top of the gearbox housing.

Checking and replacing the reverse light switch Ford Focus 2

1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

2. Squeeze the latch.

3. Disconnect the Ford Focus 2 block of wires from the reversing light sensor.

4. Loosen the sensor.

Note:

For clarity, shown on the removed gearbox.

5. Remove it from the hole in the gearbox housing.

6.  To check the Ford Focus 2 reversing light switch, connect a tester in ohmmeter mode to its terminals. The resistance should tend to infinity.

7. Press the switch plunger (shown by the arrow). The resistance should drop to zero. Otherwise, the switch is defective and must be replaced.

8.  Install the reverse light switch on the Ford Focus 2 in the reverse order of removal.
