Parts and consumables:
- power steering fluid;
- clean rag;
- funnel.
Note:
Add the fluid recommended by the manufacturer to the reservoir of the electrohydraulic booster (you can get the brand of fluid from your Opel dealer).
The tank is installed in the rear of the engine compartment at the bottom right (not visible in the photo, as it is closed by the intake pipe and throttle assembly).
It is located on the body of the electric power steering pump, which, in turn, is fixed in a bracket on the front subframe (for clarity, the air supply sleeve of the throttle assembly has been removed).
A round probe with two ring marks is installed in the tank cap.
Note:
Depending on the manufacturer of the pump, there may not be a dipstick in the tank cap, but in this case, “MAX” and “MIN” marks are applied to the tank body.
On a cold engine in the Opel Astra, the fluid level must be between these marks.
Note:
Check the power steering fluid level with the engine off.
1. Remove the reservoir cap by turning it 90° counterclockwise.
2. Insert a funnel into the neck and add the required amount of working fluid.
3. Close the stopper and wipe off any drips.
