- Motor oil
Notes:
The oil level in the Ford Focus 2 engine should be checked every 600 km. run.
The oil dipstick is located on the side at the front of the engine.
To obtain the correct reading, we check the oil level in the oil pan on a horizontal platform.
If the engine was running before checking, then stop it. We wait at least three to five minutes until the oil drains into the engine oil pan. But it is best to check the oil level on a cold engine, before the first start.
Checking the engine oil level Ford Focus 2
1. Pull out the dipstick.
2. Wipe it with a clean rag or paper towel and lower it all the way back into the crankcase.
3. Wait a while and pull out again. By the edge of the oil film on it, we determine the level of engine oil on the Ford.
Note:
Be careful: when the engine is hot, the coolant supply hoses passing nearby can be very hot.
4. The edge of the oil film must be between the two depressions on the pointer (marks MIN and MAX). The amount of oil between the upper and lower marks is approximately 2 liters.
Note:
Operating a car with an oil level below the MIN mark can lead to engine damage and, as a result, costly repairs.
5. Oil is added to the engine through the filler neck located on the cylinder head cover. If the oil level is below the MIN mark or the oil level control lamp lights up, turn it counterclockwise and remove the oil filler cap.
6. Add oil to the Ford Focus engine in 2 small portions. The oil must be of the same brand, viscosity, grade and quality as the one used previously.
7. We wait at least three minutes so that the topped-up portion of oil has time to drain into the sump, and check the level again.
8. Do not forget to install the oil level indicator in place.
Warning:
When adding oil, do not allow its level to rise above the MAX mark . Otherwise, oil will enter the combustion chambers through the crankcase ventilation system, and the combustion products of the oil can damage the catalytic converter. In addition, when the permissible level is exceeded, the crankshaft whips and foams the oil in the crankcase more intensively, which in some cases can contribute to the deterioration of lubrication.
