Note:

It is advisable to check the fluid level in the Ford Focus 2 automatic transmission every 20 thousand kilometers or if there are malfunctions in the operation of the box and fluid leaks on its crankcase.

Check immediately after a trip (so that the fluid in the gearbox is warmed up to operating temperature - 66-77 ° C).

Checking the fluid level in the automatic transmission Ford Focus 2

1. We install the car on a flat horizontal platform and fix it with a parking brake.

2. We start the engine and, pressing the brake pedal, sequentially move the selector (gear selection lever) through all positions, holding it in each position so that the gear is engaged.

3. Then we move the selector to the “P” position and leave the engine to idle.

4. Before removing the liquid level indicator, carefully remove dirt from the surface of the parts in the immediate vicinity of it.

Note:

The ingress of even a small amount of foreign particles into the internal cavity of the gearbox is unacceptable, as this can disrupt its normal operation and cause increased wear of the mechanism parts.

5. We take out the Ford Focus 2 liquid level probe from the transmission guide tube.

6. To check the condition of the liquid, we wet the pointer with a white paper towel. The liquid must be clear.

Note:

A fine suspension, brown or black, clearly visible on white paper, indicates a strong wear of the friction clutches. In this case, you should contact the service station to diagnose the gearbox.

7. Wipe the Ford Focus 2 oil dipstick with a clean, lint-free cloth and insert it into the guide tube until it stops.

8. Again we take out the pointer and by the edge of the liquid film on it we determine the level of liquid in the gearbox. The edge of the liquid film must be between the MIN and MAX marks on the liquid level indicator.

9. If the edge of the film is below the MIN mark, add the fluid recommended by the manufacturer to the gearbox.

10. Pour the liquid into the guide tube of the indicator using a funnel in small portions, controlling the level.

Note:

Do not exceed the maximum fluid level as this may damage the transmission.
