Due to the automatic self-adjustment of the parking brake, it is usually not necessary to adjust it. Parking brake adjustment is only required if the cable, rear calipers or brake discs have been replaced. Adjustment conditions: Air from the main brake system must be removed, the brakes must be in good order. The parking brake lever, cables and holders must be fully installed.
1 . Mark the direction of tire rotation with an arrow. Loosen the wheel bolts. Raise and place the vehicle on stands.
2 . Remove the ashtray and rear seat heating control panel, refer to Removing and Installing the Ashtray .
3. Disconnect all wire connectors.
4 . The armrest must be removed to access the parking brake cables. Unscrew the nut in the niche and pull out the armrest.
5. Remove the armrest base plate. To do this, unscrew the 3 nuts in the niche of the armrest.
6. After removing the bar, access to the parking brake tensioner will be gained. The example image shows an unadjusted mechanism. The left cable is slack and the right cable is tight.
7 . Insert wooden spacers A = 1.5 mm thick into both rear calipers.
8 . Press the brake pedal hard at least three times. At the same time, noticeable resistance should be felt.
9 . Release the parking brake lever and return it to its original position.
10 . Press the unlock button. In this case, both latches ( 3 ) should catch the eyelets of the parking brake cable, and the mark ( 2 ) should point back. ( 1 ) - parking brake lever nut.
11 . Release the unlock button.
12. If it is necessary to balance the tension of the cables, then insert a flat screwdriver into the rectangular hole, unlock the mechanism and lower the latches ( 3 ). Alternately pull the latches back and adjust the cables.
13 . Firmly tighten the parking brake lever at least three times.
14 . Return the lever to its original position and press the release button. In this case, both latches should catch the lugs of the parking brake cable.
15 . Release the release button, set the parking brake lever to its original position and remove the spacers in the calipers.
16 . Use a feeler gauge to check the position of the lever on the calipers. The distance ( A ) between the lever and the stop must be between 0 and 1.5 mm. If this value is different, adjust the parking brake.
17 . Reinstall all parts in reverse order.
