Examination
8. Check hub for cracks and hub splines for excessive wear.
9. Check the brake disc for nicks and damage.
10. Check up a rotary fist on absence of cracks.
11. Check the bearing for cracks or damage.
Assembly
12. Apply a light coat of multipurpose grease to the bearing seats in the hub and steering knuckle.
13. Using the special tool (09495-33100 and 09517-29000), press the bearing into the steering knuckle.
Notes:
To prevent damage to the bearing assembly, the pressing force must be applied to its outer race.
Always install a new bearing assembly (do not install a used bearing).
14. Install the protective cover.
15. Using the special tool (09495-33100), press the hub into the steering knuckle.
Attention:
To prevent damage to the bearing assembly, the pressing force must be applied to the inner race of the bearing.
16. Install the brake disc.
17. Pull the hub and steering knuckle together with the special tool (09517-21500) by tightening the special tool nut.
Notes:
Special tool nut tightening torque: 200 - 260 Nm.
18. Rotate the hub several times to properly install the bearing.
19. Measure the moment of the beginning of rotation of the bearing of a nave of a wheel.
Notes:
The maximum permissible value of the moment of the beginning of rotation of the bearing of the hub: 1.8 N·m or less.
20. If the starting torque of the bearing is 0 Nm, measure the axial clearance of the wheel hub bearing.
Attention:
If the axial clearance is greater than the limit when the special tool nut is tightened to 200–260 Nm, the bearing, hub, and steering knuckle are not installed correctly. In this case, disassemble the assembly and repeat the assembly procedure.
Notes:
Hub bearing axial clearance: 0.08 mm or less.
21. Remove the special tool (09517-21500).
