Tool:
- Straight box wrench 10 mm
- Open-end wrench 13 mm
- Screwdriver flat medium
- Key with Torx tip (asterisk) Т55
- Key with Torx tip (asterisk) Т20
- Micrometer
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery using a 10 wrench.
2. Remove the pillow. There are two holes in the back of the steering wheel for this. We insert a screwdriver into one of them and squeeze the spring that holds the pillow, one edge of the pillow should snap off, then insert it into the other hole and release the other edge of the pillow.
3. Remove the steering wheel, having previously installed it in the position corresponding to the rectilinear movement. Loosen the steering wheel bolt while holding the wheel from turning. We use Torx T55.
4. We loosen the clamp that holds the switches using the Torx T20 key.
5. We bend the latch and shift the right steering column switch towards ourselves, then the left one.
6. Under the instrument panel, unscrew the two screws securing the protective shield.
7. Remove the shield.
8. Turn away a nut and take a bolt of terminal connection of a steering shaft and a shaft of the steering mechanism by a key on 13.
9. Turn away a nut of fastening of a tip of a "mass" wire to a steering column of Skoda Octavia and disconnect a wire.
10. Disconnect the ignition switch wiring harness connector.
11. Wring out a clamp and remove the holder of a plait of wires from a steering column using a flat screw-driver.
12. Turn out four fastening bolts using a key on 13.
13. Remove the steering column of the Skoda Octavia.
14. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Note:
After installation, check the gap between the cardan joint and the edge of the hole in the engine shield. The gap at all points of the circle must be at least 5 mm.
