The steering column is one of the most important elements for ensuring road safety, therefore, replace the steering shafts or column assembly installed in the steering column if the following defects are present:
- play in the cardan joint of the intermediate shaft or damage to its terminal connection with the steering column shaft;
- deformation or damage to the intermediate shaft, play in the cardan joints, damage to the terminal connection of the lower joint with the steering gear shaft;
- deformation or damage to the shaft and parts of the steering column, damage to the splines connecting the shaft to the steering wheel hub;
- damage to the steering column adjustment mechanism.
You will need: a 13 socket, a TORX T25 key, a flat-blade screwdriver.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel
3. Remove the steering column cover
4. Remove the contact ring of the driver's airbag
5. Remove under the steering switches
6. Remove the screw securing the "ground" wire and disconnect the wire from the steering column.
7. Disconnect the remaining pads of the wiring harnesses from the steering column.
8. Under the instrument panel, remove the floor covering fixing clip...
9. ...and fold the cover away.
10. Turn out the coupling bolt of the terminal connection of the intermediate shaft with the steering gear shaft ...
11. ... and remove the intermediate shaft from the steering gear shaft.
12. Turn out two screws of fastening of the mounting block...
13. ...and remove the mounting block from under the panel of devices.
14. Turn out two bolts of fastening of a steering column...
15. ... and remove the steering column with the ignition switch, intermediate shaft and electric power steering.
16. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
