Removing and installing timing chain Nissan Qashqai 2007 - 2013

Tools:

• Collar for end nozzle

Removing and installing timing chain Nissan Qashqai

1. Put the car on a lift. Remove the right front wheel.

2. Remove the right side engine mudguard.

3. Remove the decorative engine cover as described here .

4. Remove the intake manifold.

5. Drain the oil from the engine lubrication system.

Note:

Further, the adjustment of clearances in the valve drive is shown for clarity on the removed engine.

6. Remove the cylinder head cover.

7. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC position of the compression stroke.

8. Securely support the engine.

9. Remove the right engine mount as described here .

Note:

Part of the subsequent operations for clarity is shown on the removed engine.

10. Remove the drive belt.  

11. While holding the crankshaft pulley from turning, unscrew the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt by no more than 10-15 mm.

12. Install the puller and press the pulley off the crankshaft.

13. Finally turn out a bolt of fastening of a pulley and remove a pulley.

14. Remove the automatic accessory drive belt tensioner.

15. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the solenoid valve of the variable valve timing system. Turn out a bolt of its fastening.

16. Remove the solenoid valve.

17. Turn out bolts of fastening of a cover of the gas-distributing mechanism in the sequence specified on a photo below.

The sequence of unscrewing the bolts for fastening the cover of the gas distribution mechanism and the place where the seal is cut.

18. Cut the seal at the points indicated by the arrows in the photo above and remove the cover.

Note:

To unscrew the bolts securing the timing cover, four sizes of socket heads are required:

• mounting bolts 11 , 15 , 19 , 21 (see photo with numbering above) are made for a 16 mm socket,
• bolts 9 , 12 , 13 , 16 , 17 - under the socket head by 13 mm,
• bolts 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 10 , 14 , 18 , 20 - 10 mm socket head,
• bolt 22 - under the socket head by 8 mm.

19. Press the Nissan Qashqai timing chain tensioner. Fix it by inserting a pin with a diameter of 1.5 mm into the hole.

20. Turn out a bolt of the top fastening of a tension directing chain of the gas distribution mechanism.

21. Remove the bushing bolt.

22. Remove the tension guide.

23. Turn out the top and bottom bolts of fastening of a directing chain of the gas-distributing mechanism.

24. Remove the guide.

25. Remove the Nissan Qashqai timing chain from the crankshaft sprocket.

26. Also remove the chain from the sprockets of the intake and exhaust valve shafts.

27. If necessary, turn out 2 bolts of fastening of a tensioner to the block of cylinders.

28. Remove the tensioner.

29 . Install the timing chain into the guides and tensioner in the reverse order of removal, aligning the marks on the chain with the marks on the sprockets.

30. Clean the mating surfaces of the engine and timing cover from the old sealant.

31. Apply a new sealant to the mating surface of the timing cover with a roller 3.4-4.4 mm thick.

32. Install the timing cover and tighten the bolts in the order shown in the photo below. Fastening bolts 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 , 12 - torque 75 Nm; fastening bolts 6 , 7 , 10 , 11 , 14 - torque 55 Nm; mounting bolts 3 , 5 , 9 , 13 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22- torque 25.5 Nm; fastening bolt 1 torque 6.6 Nm.

33. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
