Removal and installation of a back door of Skoda Octavia

Tool:

• Screwdriver flat medium
• Phillips screwdriver, medium
• Open-end wrench 10 mm

1.  Open the tailgate of the Skoda Octavia.

2.  Remove the bottom part of an upholstery of a door of a back. See here for how to do  it .

3.  Turn out screws of fastening of the top part of an upholstery on the left side. You will need a Phillips screwdriver.

4.  Turn out screws of fastening of the top part of an upholstery on the right side.

5.  Pry off the spacer pins with a flat screwdriver and remove the four plastic caps securing the upper upholstery of the rear door of the Skoda Octavia.

6.  Turn out two hinges of an emphasis of a door of a back.

7.  Disconnect the top part of an upholstery from the panel of a door of a back, overcoming effort of its clamps.

8.  Remove the top part of an upholstery of a back door of Skoda Octavia.

9.  Disconnect the wiring harness block from the rear window heating electrical contact on the right and left.

10.  Disconnect the wiring harness block from the Skoda Octavia rear door lock.

11.  Pry the corrugated protective cover from the tailgate with a flat screwdriver.

12.  Disconnect a corrugated protective cover from a back door.

13.   Take a plait of wires from a cavity of a door of a back.

14.   Pry with a screwdriver and remove the upper trim of the tailgate opening, thereby opening access to the nuts securing the tailgate hinges to the body.

15.   While holding the tailgate, unscrew the two nuts securing the rear door hinges of the Skoda Octavia to the body and remove the tailgate.

Helpful advice:

If you remove the tailgate not for replacement, we recommend that you mark the position of the hinges relative to the tailgate (for example, by tracing them around with a felt-tip pen).

Note:

Remove the tailgate with an assistant.

16.  Install the tailgate in the reverse order of removal. If you are installing the old tailgate, before the final tightening of the fastening nuts, it is necessary to orient it according to the previously applied marks. Otherwise, the position of the rear door of the Skoda Octavia must be adjusted so that the gaps between the tailgate and the wings are the same on both sides, and the gaps between the upper and lower edges of the tailgate and the parts mating with it are uniform.
