Removal and installation of the lock of a cowl of Skoda Octavia

Tool:

• Key with Torx tip (asterisk) Т30
• Screwdriver flat medium

Note:

The Skoda Octavia hood lock, combined in one block with a safety hook, is installed on the upper shelf of the radiator frame. The latch of the lock, made in the form of a bracket of thick steel wire, is welded to the reinforcement of the inner hood panel. The hood lock drive is cable-operated, with a handle installed under the instrument panel on the left side.

1.  Remove the three screws securing the lock to the radiator frame. You need a TORX T30 wrench.

2.  Remove the Skoda Octavia bonnet lock from its slot in the frame.

3.  Pry off with a flat-bladed screwdriver and remove the lug of the lock cable sheath from the slot of the lock bracket.

4.  Disconnect the cable tip from the lock lever and remove the Skoda Octavia hood lock.

5.  Install the hood latch in the reverse order of removal.

Note:

If, after installation, the lock does not lock clearly or is difficult to unlock, adjust its position. Loosen the screws securing the lock and moving it within the rectangular holes of the case achieve a clear operation.
