Notes:
The steel protection of the Skoda Rapid engine is installed instead of the regular plastic casing, which provides less protection against impact on important parts of the car engine. Or, depending on the configuration, the car is initially not equipped with any protection at all.
It is not recommended to install protection made of aluminum alloy, since it has only one advantage in the form of corrosion resistance, however, it cannot fully fulfill its main protective purpose and easily breaks under relatively small loads.
The most reliable design options are a steel plate with stiffeners. They can withstand quite a strong shock load and, at the same time, not deform very much.
1. If it is not possible to install the car on a pit or overpass, then jack up the front of the car and install reliable supports on both sides.
2. Unscrew the screws and pull out the latches holding the regular casing covering the engine and gearbox.
3. Remove the factory plastic cover.
4. Following the recommendations of the installation instructions, which should be attached to the protection kit, attach the necessary brackets to the load-bearing elements of the car body.
5. Attach the cross retaining bar, if included in the protection kit. Install and bolt the new steel crankcase guard. Along the contour, the protection is additionally fastened with self-tapping screws that fastened the standard casing.
Note:
Depending on the version of the protection kit, some fasteners may differ slightly, but the general procedure will be similar.
