Note:

Shock absorbers must be replaced in pairs. In this case, the replacement process occurs alternately. Do not remove the shock absorbers once, this can lead to too low lowering of the rear suspension beam and damage to the brake pipelines.

1.  We turn on the forward gear and install wheel chocks (shoes) under the front wheels.

2.  Using a jack, raise the rear wheels of the car and place the rear of the car on strong support stands.

Notes:

Do not install supports under the rear suspension beam. When removing shock absorbers, the suspension must be unloaded.

3 . We open the trunk.

4. Remove the side upholstery of the trunk.

5.  Holding the shock absorber rod from turning with a wrench, unscrew the rod fastening nut.

6. Remove the washer from the stem.

7. Here we remove the rubber cushion.

8.  We unscrew and take out the bolt of the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm.

9.  Remove the shock absorber from its mounting sockets.

10. Remove the lower rubber cushion and spacer from the shock absorber rod.

11. We take out the spacer sleeve from the pillow.

12. Remove the washer from the rod.

13. After that, remove the rubber protective cover and the compression stroke buffer from the shock absorber rod.

14. Separate the protective cover from the compression stroke buffer.

15. Remove the protective cap from the shock absorber.

16. We study all the details of the shock absorber for damage. If necessary, we replace defective parts with new ones.

17.  Install the shock absorber vertically and lower and raise its stem several times until it stops. The movement of the rod should occur without dips, jamming and knocking. If such defects are found, the shock absorber is replaced as an assembly. In addition, you need to pay attention to the mounting thread of the stem. If it is damaged, the shock absorber is also replaced with a new one.

18.  Install the shock absorber in the reverse order of removal.

Note:

The upper shock absorber mounting nut and its lower bolt must only be fully tightened with the vehicle on the ground.

19.  We lower the car to the ground and swing it several times, applying great effort. This is necessary for the shock absorbers to become in working position.

20.  We tighten the bolt of the lower shock absorber mounting to the rear suspension arm with a torque of 105 Nm, and the upper mounting nut with a torque of 14 Nm.

21. In the same way, we replace the second shock absorber.
