Installing, checking and removing the canister purge valve in a Volkswagen Polo car

Whether parts and consumables:

  • Power supply 12V
  • Pear rubber

1.  Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

Separate the wire from the "minus".

2.  Remove the air filter housing.

The air filter is highlighted in red.

3.  Squeeze the retainer and disconnect the wiring harness block from the valve.

You need to disconnect the wires from the valve.

4.  Remove the hoses going to the canister valve from the brackets on the inlet pipe.

The hoses from the brackets on the inlet pipe must be removed.

5.  Remove the valve by removing both hoses from its fittings.

When removing the valve, do not forget to remove the two hoses.

6.  Put a compressed rubber bulb on the valve fitting. Since the valve is normally closed, the vacuum created must be maintained in the bulb. Then apply a voltage of 12 V to the valve contacts, the valve will open and the pear will fill with air. Otherwise, replace the valve with a new one.

If the valve is faulty, then when voltage is applied, the pear will not fill with air.

7.  Install the canister purge valve in the reverse order of removal.

When installing the valve, first install the part that was removed last.

Details of system of release of the fulfilled gases: 1 - a collar; 2,4 - suspension cushions of the main muffler; 3 - main muffler combined with an intermediate pipe; 5 - additional silencer suspension cushion; 6 - downpipe with bellows, combined with an additional muffler; 7 - pillow of a suspension bracket of a receiving pipe; 8 - laying of the receiving pipe; 9 - diagnostic oxygen concentration sensor.
