The outside temperature sensor, although located at the front of the vehicle behind the grille in a sun-protected and ventilated area, is affected by factors such as warm air from the engine and radiation from hot asphalt. Therefore, his readings can sometimes be somewhat overestimated, especially after a long stay in traffic jams.
The outside temperature can be considered correct when driving at a speed of at least 40 km/h for at least 10 minutes.
If it is necessary to replace the sensor, perform the following operations.
You will need a flat blade screwdriver...
...and a tester.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.
2. Remove facing of a radiator.
3. Pry off the outside temperature sensor with a screwdriver…
4. ... and remove the retainer from the hole in the hood latch bracket.
5. Press the retainer of the outdoor temperature sensor wiring harness block ...
6. ... and disconnect the block from the sensor.
HELPFUL ADVICE.
In order to make it easier to measure the resistance of the outdoor temperature sensor, put a sheath on the tips of both probes of the tester from the wire to half the length of the sheath. Then connect both probes to the probe leads by slipping the sheaths over the probe leads so that the probe touches the probe lead.
7. Connect the tester probes to the sensor outputs 3, 4 and check the technical condition of the sensor.
8. Install the outside temperature sensor in reverse order.
