Note:
The need to replace the camshaft sensor should be determined during the diagnosis of the engine management system.
The principle of replacing the sensor is the same. An example is shown on the MR20DE engine.
Before replacing the camshaft (phase) sensor with a Nissan X-Trail, it is advisable to disconnect the wire from the “negative” battery terminal with a 10 mm wrench or socket.
Replacing the camshaft sensor Nissan X-Trail
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the ignition.
2. Raise the hood cover and fix it with an emphasis.
3. Use a 10 mm socket to unscrew the 2 screws securing the decorative engine cover.
4. Remove from the front of the holders and remove the engine cover.
5. Using an 8 mm socket, unscrew the bolt securing the air supply sleeve to the air filter.
6. Using an 8 mm socket, unscrew the bolt securing the air supply sleeve to the throttle assembly.
7. Loosen the crankcase ventilation hose clamp with pliers.
8. Remove a hose from the union of a branch pipe of the resonator of the air filter.
9. Remove the air supply sleeve with the resonator and put it aside.
10. Disconnect the wiring harness from the Nissan X-Trail camshaft sensor.
11. Using a socket head , unscrew the sensor mounting bolt by 10 mm .
12. Remove the sensor.
13. If necessary, replace the Nissan X-Trail camshaft (phase) sensor with a working one.
14. Install the sensor and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the sensor bolt to 7 N•m.
