Replacing the speed sensor on Daewoo Matiz (error P0501)

Note:

The speed sensor is installed to measure the speed of the vehicle and send this information to the ECU. If it fails, the ECU generates a  P0501 error code.

Replacing the speed sensor with a Daewoo Matiz

1. Install the car on a lift, pit or overpass.

The speed sensor on the Daewoo Matiz is installed on the right drive side, on the gearbox, behind the wiring.

2. Disconnect the wire connector from the speed sensor.

3. Unscrew the speedometer cable from above.

4. Unscrew the sensor counterclockwise and remove.

5. Replace the Daewoo Matiz speed sensor with a working one.

Note:

The original Daewoo sensor number is 96518414.

6. Screw the new sensor into the transmission.

7. Screw in the speedometer cable, and connect the connector to the speed sensor.

8. Lower the car and check the operation of the sensor.
