Note:
This article and video is about replacing the temperature sensor. There are two of them on the VAZ engine: upper and lower on the block. We will change the top.
To avoid a short circuit, it is advisable to remove the negative terminal from the battery before replacing.
Replacing the coolant temperature sensor (DTOZH) VAZ 2108 - 2114
1. Relieve pressure by unscrewing and tightening the coolant reservoir cap.
2. Next, remove the air filter housing.
This will give you access to the sensor.
3. Press the latch and disconnect the block from the VAZ temperature sensor.
4. Unscrew the sensor with a key or a 19 mm head.
5. Then you can unscrew it by hand.
6. Pull it out of the hole.
Note:
Be careful: antifreeze may leak. With us, due to the vacuum, nothing runs. Alternatively, you can cover the sensor location with a rag.
7. We replace the temperature sensor (DTOZH) VAZ 2108 - 2114 with a working one.
8. Insert into place.
9. First, spin by hand.
10. Next, slightly tighten with a wrench or socket head by 19 mm until it stops.
11. We connect the block of wires to the sensor.
12. Install the air filter housing.
Note:
The upper sensor that we replaced gives readings to the ECU (electronic control unit). The operation of the engine depends on it, since many of the parameters that the ECU sets, it repels mainly from the temperature of the engine. This is especially related to the supply of gasoline. The lower temperature sensor displays parameters purely on the instrument panel.
