Note:
This article describes how to replace Santa Fe pads.
We replace the pads in the case of the maximum permissible wear of their pads. The pads must be replaced if they are cracked, the linings are oily, chipped and the linings peel off from the base of the shoes.
Warning:
The brake pads of the front wheels must be replaced only as a set - a set of pads for the left front wheel and a set of pads for the right front wheel. Replacing only one set may cause the vehicle to pull to the side when braking.
1. If the fluid level in the reservoir of the hydraulic brake drive is at the MAX mark , then, before installing new pads, pump out some of the fluid from the reservoir with a syringe or rubber bulb.
Note:
The liquid must be pumped out so that when the pistons are sunk into the working cylinder, it does not leak out from under the reservoir cap.
2. Brake the car with a parking brake and install wheel chocks (“boots”) under the rear wheels.
3. Loosen the front wheel nuts.
4. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack, secure the vehicle on jack stands and remove the wheel.
5. Using the “14” wrench, unscrew the lower and upper bolts securing the caliper to the guide pin.
6. Remove the Santa Fe caliper from the guide pads (without disconnecting the brake hose from the caliper) and tie the caliper to the shock absorber spring or lay it next to it.
7. Remove the brake pads.
Old and new Santa Fe brake pads.
8. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the lower and upper guide plate.
9. Clean the guide plates with a wire brush.
10. Remove the guide pins from the hole in the guide pads, remove the protective cover from the guide pins.
11. Turn off two bolts of fastening directing blocks to a rotary fist and remove directing blocks.
12. Clean the shoe guide with a metal brush and reinstall the guide.
13. Lubricate the guide pins with high temperature grease and replace them.
Note:
If the protective covers of the guide pins are torn, replace them with new ones.
14. Install guide plates and new pads Hyundai Santa Fe.
15. Dip the pistons inside the working cylinders with a special tool.
Front caliper pistons.
Note:
If you do not have a piston sinker, you can use an old block and key.
Push in the front piston.
16. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
17. Check the brake fluid level and, if necessary, bring it to normal, as described in this article .
Note:
After replacing the pads on both front wheels, press the brake pedal several times to set the gaps between the pads and discs.
