Why do I need an oil change in the Mazda 6 engine?

Timely and proper maintenance of vehicles on the appointed lines will be the key to the constant uninterrupted operation of all auto mechanisms and the prevention of various malfunctions in the future.

Changing the engine fluid improves the properties of the lubricant, which deteriorate under the influence of external factors, such as cold winters, unforeseen temperature changes and dusty roads (the chemical composition and physical parameters of the lubricant change).

When is the engine oil and oil filter changed?

  • Oil - approximately once every 10-15 thousand km. But here it is also important to take into account the conditions in which the car is operated. For example, if you drive most of the time on dusty roads, sand, or in urban areas you have to stop often, then the period is reduced to 8-10 thousand km.
  • Filter - at the same time when the oil is changed. Together they are considered one mechanism, and are also serviced simultaneously. Therefore, replacement is carried out every 10-15 thousand km. mileage (1 time / year).

What oil to fill in Mazda 6?

  • Choose engine fluid according to the parameters recommended by the manufacturer in the instruction manual.
  • For models manufactured since 2010,  only synthetic oils should be used.
  • For cars with gasoline engines, it is recommended to use a fluid of class and viscosity 5W20 or 5W30. For diesel - 5W30 and 10W30.

Warning:

When using motor oils of other companies, the warranty may be voided from the motor.

Mazda recommends using synthetic motor fluid in winter and semi-synthetic fluid in summer. This creates optimal conditions for lubricating units in all modes of engine operation.

Oil tolerancesMazda 6

  • API SL / SM or ACEA A5 / A5, viscosity 5W-30 (Mazda Original Oil 5W30 Ultra);
  • API SM/SN, 0W-20 viscosity (Mazda Original Oil 0W20 Supra).

Oil volumes:

  • in engines MZR and L-8 (1.8) - 4.3 liters;
  • in engines MZR and LF (2.0) - 4.3 liters;
  • in engines MZR-CD (2.0) - 4.1 liters;
  • in engines MZR-CD (2.2) - 4.7 liters;
  • for engines L3 (2.3) - 4.4 liters;
  • in engines MZR (2.5) - 5.0 l.

Note:

For proper repair, you need to follow all the instructions step by step.

Replacement is best done on a viewing hole or lift. But if this is not possible, you can use the usual jack and racks.

Mazda 6 oil change. Work procedure:

Warning:

The oil that drips is itself hot! Therefore, at this point in the work, be very careful and take care of your hands.

7. Flush the motor with a special flushing liquid: tighten the drain plug tightly and fill the engine with liquid. Run the car for about 3-5 minutes and turn it off. Drain the rinse into a suitable container.

Note:

This item is not required.

8. Using a special cup extractor or other suitable tool, carefully unscrew the Mazda 6 oil filter.

Note:

Do not add liquid above the maximum mark - this will inevitably lead to engine breakdown.

16. After starting the engine for the first time, some oil will go away and the level will start to drop. Therefore, check again, and add enough fluid so that the Mazda 6 oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks , closer to the latter.

17.   Screw on the filler cap.
