Tools:
- Straight box wrench 17 mm
- chain key
- torque wrench
- Nozzle for crank 17 mm
Parts and consumables:
- Technical capacity
- Motor oil
- Oil filter
- Drain plug sealing washer
Note:
We change the engine oil in accordance with the maintenance schedule every 15 thousand kilometers.
We perform work on a viewing ditch or overpass.
We carry out the replacement on an idle engine (preferably immediately after the trip), until the oil has cooled down.
Warning:
Be careful, the oil is hot.
1. Remove the engine oil filler cap.
2. From the bottom of the car, we clean the cover of the oil pan around the drain plug from dirt, loosen the drain plug with a 17 spanner wrench.
3. In advance, we substitute a wide container for used oil with a capacity of at least 4 liters under the drain hole and, finally, unscrew the plug manually, thereby draining the oil.
Note:
A sealing washer is installed under the drain plug. The process of draining oil from a Hyundai Accent car takes at least 10 minutes. Wipe any oil spills from the engine sump. Then substitute this container under the oil filter.
Drain plug with sealing washer.
4. Turn off the oil filter. If this cannot be done manually, we loosen the filter tightening with a puller or an appropriate device in the form of a belt.
Note:
We remove the oil filter, clean the filter seat from dirt and oil drips.
Oil filter puller.
5. Apply engine oil to the filter o-ring.
6. The oil filter is screwed on by hand until the sealing ring touches the oil pump housing. Next, turn the filter another 3/4 turn to seal the connection. We wipe the cork with a clean rag. We wrap and tighten the plug with a torque of 39-44 Nm.
WARNING:
Avoid prolonged contact of the oil with painted surfaces and avoid contact with exposed areas of the body or in the eyes.
7. Fill the engine with clean oil in the required volume (up to the “ F ” mark on the dipstick), as described here .
Note:
Fill first half of the total volume, wait 10 minutes and add the remaining oil.
8. Install the oil filler cap.
Note:
We start the engine for 1-2 minutes. We check the absence of oil leaks from under the cork, and the oil filter. Tighten the drain plug and filter if necessary.
We stop the engine, after a few minutes (so that the oil has time to drain into the oil pan), we check the oil level, and bring it to normal, as described here .
