Note:
The rear gearbox on the Nissan X-Trail consists of a final drive with a differential and an electromagnetic clutch. The gearbox is mounted on the rear subframe and transmits torque from the cardan shaft to the rear wheel drives.
According to the maintenance regulations, change the oil in the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox every 15 thousand km. mileage or after a year of operation.
Draining the oil may also be necessary when repairing the gearbox itself or removing the rear wheel drives.
Oil drains only when warm.
Recommended gearbox oil Nissan X-Trail
Oil for hypoid gears Nissan Differential Oil Hypoid Super GL-5 80W-90.
In the absence of the recommended original oil, a hypoid gear oil of API GL-5 quality and SAE 80W-90 viscosity is acceptable.
Changing the oil in the rear gear Nissan X-Trail T-31
1. Install the car on a viewing hole or overpass.
2. With a 13 mm head, unscrew the bolts and remove the crankcase protection.
3. Use a metal brush to clean the plugs of the drain and control holes of the reducer from dirt and dust.
4. Substitute an empty container under the drain hole of the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox housing.
5. Using a 10 mm Allen wrench, remove the gearbox drain plug.
6. Wait until the oil is completely drained from the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox.
Note:
The oil is hot! Be careful not to get burned.
7. Clean the drain plug of old oil and metal chips.
8. Replace the drain plug seal with a new one.
9. Screw the plug back.
10. Using a 10 mm hex wrench, unscrew the plug of the control (filler) hole of the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox.
11. Take a special syringe for filling oil (as an option, you can use a medical one).
12. Using a syringe with a tube, pour oil into the Nissan X-Trail gearbox up to the lower edge of the control hole.
13. Clean the plug.
14. Replace the oil level plug seal with a new one and screw the plug back on. Wipe up spilled oil with a rag.
