Replacing the coolant on a Nissan Qashqai 2007 - 2013

Note:

According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the coolant should be changed after 90 thousand kilometers or 6 years of operation (whichever comes first).

Warnings:

– Use ethylene glycol based coolants (antifreeze).

– Change the coolant only when the engine is cold.

– The coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it.

– When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed.

1. Place the vehicle on a lift or pit.

2. Open the hood.

3. Turn away a stopper of a broad tank.

5. Loosen the clamp securing the outlet hose to the branch pipe, squeezing its bent ears with pliers, slide the clamp along the hose.

6. Disconnect the hose from the pipe and drain the coolant on the Nissan Qashqai into a previously prepared container.

7. Flush the cooling system, for which put the hose on the pipe, secure it with a clamp and fill the system with water through the expansion tank.

8. Start the engine and let it run until the electric fan turns on.

9. Stop the engine and drain the water.

10. Flush the cooling system until clean water begins to drain.

11. Put a hose on a branch pipe and fix it with a collar.

12. Fill the system with coolant.

13. Fill the coolant into the Nissan Qashqai expansion tank up to the “MAX” mark and screw on the cap.

14. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature (until the electric fan turns on). After that, stop the engine, let it cool down, then check the coolant level and, if necessary, add it to the expansion tank up to the "MAX" mark.

Note:

With the engine running, watch the coolant temperature on the gauge. If the arrow has reached the red zone, and the radiator fans do not turn on, turn on the heater and check how much air flows through it. If the heater supplies heated air, then the fans are most likely faulty, and if it is cold, an air lock has formed in the engine cooling system.

Advice:

For better filling of the system without air pockets, periodically squeeze the radiator hoses by hand.

After a few days of operation of the car after replacing the coolant, check its level. Top up if necessary.
