Removing the Airbag on a Nissan X-Trail
1. Raise the hood cover and fix it with a stop.
2. Using a 10 mm wrench, disconnect the wire from the “negative” terminal of the battery and wait about 15 minutes (for the activator capacitor to completely discharge).
Warning:
Attempting to remove the airbag without disconnecting its power supply may cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly.
3. Go to the car interior.
4. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the caps of the mounting screws on both sides of the steering wheel.
5. With a Torx T30 wrench, turn out the screw on both sides.

Note:
Do not allow the airbag module to fall and be exposed to water, grease or oil.
Do not expose the airbag module to temperatures above 95°C.
Replacement steering wheel Nissan X-Trail
1. While holding the steering wheel from turning, use a 19 mm head to loosen the nut securing it to the steering shaft.
Note:
Do not completely loosen the fastening nut. If the steering wheel of the Nissan X-Trail is suddenly disconnected from the steering shaft, you can injure yourself.
2. With sharp blows of the hands behind the steering wheel, knock it off the splines of the steering shaft. If the steering wheel does not give in, shake it left and right, and then pull it up.
3. Turn off a fastening nut to the end and remove a steering wheel.
4. Replace the Nissan X-Trail steering wheel with a new one.
5. Align the mark on the steering wheel hub with the mark on the end of the steering shaft and install the steering wheel in place.
6. Tighten the Nissan X-Trail steering wheel nut to 34 N•m.
7. Install the airbag in the reverse order of removal.
8. Check the operation of the horn.
Note:
When you turn on the ignition for the first time, after installing the airbag module, be outside the vehicle and turn on the ignition by reaching under the steering column.
