Replacing the oil sump seal Opel Astra H

The oil sump flange is mounted on sealant, there is no gasket. Therefore, if there is an oil leak in the connector of the oil sump and the cylinder block of the Opel Astra car, tightening the oil sump mounting bolts will not lead to the desired result. Remove the oil pan and replace its seal.

You will need: E10 and E14 TORX socket heads, extension cord, wrench.

1. Remove a reception pipe of system of release of the fulfilled gases (Replacement of a reception pipe see).

2. Drink the oil from the engine (see Changing the Engine Oil and Oil Filter).

3. Press the latch and disconnect the wiring harness block from the oil level sensor.

4. Turn out three bolts of fastening of an oil case to a coupling case.

5. Turn out bolts of fastening of an oil crankcase to the block of cylinders...

6. ... and remove the crankcase.

7. If necessary, remove the oil deflector.

8. To do this, unscrew the bolts securing the oil deflector to the oil sump ...

9. ... and remove the shield.

10. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block from the old sealant ...

11. ... and oil sump.

12. Apply a special sealant (MS 721-40A or equivalent) to the mating surface of the oil sump with a 4 mm diameter roller, and the sealant application line should pass from the inside of the mounting holes.

13. 5 minutes after applying the sealant, install the oil crankcase on the cylinder block, screw in the crankcase mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque.

14. Establish all removed details and knots in an order, the return to removal.

15. Fill the engine with oil (see "Changing the engine oil and oil filter").

Note

You can fill in oil and start the engine of an Opel Astra car no earlier than half an hour after installing the oil sump, this is necessary for the polymerization of the sealant.
