Note:

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and open the hood. The air element is installed in the left side of the engine compartment on a special
bracket.

2. Squeeze the retainer and disconnect the block from the mass air flow sensor.

3. Use a screwdriver to pry out the 2 clips and move the wire harness holder aside.

4. The top of the Honda Civic filter housing is attached to the filter with several metal fasteners. Pull them down.

5. Remove the air filter cover.

6. Pull out the Honda Civic air filter element.

Note:

To prevent dust from getting into the exhaust manifold, and then into the engine, do not take out the sharply used old filter.

7. Inspect the removed filter on both sides and evaluate its condition. It should not have any cracks.

8. You can try to blow a part that is not too dirty with a compressor, clean it, and put it in place (you need to blow it from the clean side of the element).

9. If the air element is completely clogged with dust, debris, leaves or insects, replace the Honda Civic air filter with a new one.

10. If possible, remove dust and dirt from the filter housing.

11. Install a new Honda Civic filter in the housing in the same position as the previous one.

12. Replace the air filter housing cover and fasten the front latches back.

Note:

Close the filter box cover tightly. Check all latches. Then the air will not be pumped into the slots, passing by the filter itself.
