Note:
According to the maintenance schedule, under normal operating conditions, the air filter on the Nissan X-Trail should be replaced every 30 thousand kilometers or after 2 years. Under severe conditions - every 10 thousand kilometers or after 1 year of operation.
Nissan X-Trail Air Filter Replacement
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and open the hood.
The air filter housing is installed on the right side of the engine compartment (when standing in front of the car).
2. Remove the 2 spring clips securing the Nissan X-Trail air filter cassette.
Note:
On a car with a 2.5L engine, press the tabs with your fingers and remove the air filter housing cover. Further, all actions are the same.
3. Pull the cassette with the filter element out of the housing.
4. Remove the Nissan X-Trail air filter from the cassette.
5. Assess the condition of the filter. If the filter is not very dirty, blow it with compressed air from the compressor in the opposite direction of the air flow.
6. If the element is sufficiently dirty, replace the Nissan X-Trail air filter with a new one.
7. Insert a new filter into the cassette.
8. Clean the inside of the air filter housing with a rag.
9. Install the new filter element in the housing in the same position as the old one.
10. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
Useful advice:
Periodically, between replacements, remove the filter element and clean it of dust by vigorously shaking or blowing with compressed air in the direction opposite to the air movement during engine operation.
