Using the CVT in M (Manual) and D modes.

Before reading, read the manual on Qashqai, 5.14

Mode D

1) There is inertia (the reaction to the gas pedal can be delayed up to 1 second). This is not "dumbness of the brain", but "protection from a fool." BC wants to make sure that you are really accelerating and not mixing up the pedals.

2) The experience of driving an automatic transmission is harmful! At first, in the first second of acceleration, you think that you need to switch the speed by releasing the gas. In the end - neither this nor that. It is necessary to gas clearly and confidently. The result will please.

3) The stroke of the gas pedal can be divided into 5 modes.
0. (do not press). The car gradually slows down.
1/4 Turns 1400 - 1800. The current speed is maintained (practically cruise control). "Economy mode" for fuel.
2/4 2000-2500. A small increase in speed (add 10-15 km / h from the current one).
3/4 2500-3500 Comfortable overtaking, good acceleration (30 km/h or more).
Pedal to the floor. RPM over 4000. Kick-down. Emergency run.

4) Variator - adaptive. In addition to the "confidence" of pressing the gas, the speed / depth of pressing is also fixed. Resets after engine shutdown. Well, during the ride, too, adjusts.
Details are hidden by the manufacturer ...
As a result. If you need to "drive" at traffic lights, rev a couple of times immediately from the beginning of the movement. Koshak will be "faster" (more "elastic" pedal). Without fanaticism, remember to warm up the engine.

The general tasks of the variator are to make the ride comfortable and economical.
Some life situations contradict these tasks, and here comes to our aid

M mode

Indications for use.
- Engine braking.
We are going downhill in D mode, we need to slow down.

- Driving uphill
D tries to save, drives the rpm to 2000 and it "dumbs" the car. If you feel discomfort on the rise - just go to M. You will like it

- "Beautiful overtaking" on the track.
Go 100 - 130 km / h to D. The track is flat, gas 1/4, rpm 2000, the CVT has an "economy" mode in the brain. Accordingly, the reaction to the pedal is "tightened".
Ahead of a couple of cars at the same speed. Move to M and are surprised at the "out of nowhere" pickup.

- driving with a trailer.
Requires increased speed, so M is welcome.
In practice, it has not been tested, it needs to be checked.

- traffic light racing.
It feels like (without stopwatches and GPS), the M mode is "more active" in "non-emergency" modes (everything except kick-down).
It is simply harmful to change gears during kick-down, therefore it is not considered.
Neighbors say that M gains a hundred faster D.

Pleasantly pleased with the unusual sensations. The transition to another gear occurs "conditionally instantly" and without loss of connection between the wheels and the engine. For the driver, it looks like this (at 3000-4000 rpm):
- the speed drops by about 500
- instead of a micropause with a decrease in speed, an unexpected (and pleasant) increase in speed (pickup) already at the moment of switching.

Features of operation M

1) Starts only from the first. The above does not allow switching.

2) Auto upshift is available as "upper foolproof".
During kickdown (revs are in the red zone), CVT upshifts itself.

In no case should this be considered as an analogue of the operation of an automatic transmission: "I gas, and let it switch itself."

So do not flatter yourself and monitor the speed / rpm / engine noise (hello, mechanics!)

3) Auto downshift. The algorithm is simple. The speedometer has a "10 km/h" signal. Used by: belt squeakers, Lock 4WD and CVT in M mode. Drive in any gear. When crossing the mark "10 km / h" down, CVT exposes 1st gear.

Important!
At the time of the transition D - M, the gas does not change.
Releasing the pedal causes the speed to drop and the effect to be lost.
Pressing the pedal is not recommended by the manufacturer.
But after the transition - we gas as you like!
