Opening the hood of the Citroen C5 II

1.  Grasp the handle and open the front door on the driver's side.

2.  Inside the car, under the dashboard, on the left side, there is a lever for opening the hood.

3.  Pull the hood release lever toward you until you hear a click that indicates that the hood has opened. The hood of the Citroen C5 will rise slightly.

Note:

The absence of a click when pressing the lever usually indicates that the cable for the hood latch has broken.

Very often,  car owners put an electronic lock on the doors and hood, which can only be opened using the alarm control key fob. With its prolonged use, it is usually impossible to open the doors mechanically. Therefore, be sure to scroll through the regular lock cylinders with a key from time to time.

4. In the front of the car, under the front edge of the hood, there is a hood opening latch.

5. To open the hood, put your hand under it with your palm down and reach the latch. Pull the hood latch up and lift the hood cover.

6.  On the inside, on the bonnet cover, a Citroen C5 stop is fixed in a special latch. 

7.  Remove the hood stop from the latch and install it in a special socket on the left side of the car, thereby fixing the Citroen C5 hood in the raised position.

8. To close the hood, put the stop in place, lower the hood gently so that it closes under its own weight, or press it firmly on both sides (a characteristic click should be heard).

Warning:

If you find that the hood  is open while driving, stop immediately and close it.

Note:

After installing the support leg, make sure that the leg is securely installed in the appropriate hole in the hood and there is no possibility of it unexpectedly falling. If you doubt the reliability of the standard stop or it is simply missing, then pick up a strong bar of suitable length and install it between the body and the hood cover.

When closing the hood, make sure you remove the support leg and secure it securely in the appropriate fixture: closing the hood with the leg not folded can damage the hood.
