General information

Front wheel suspension Mercedes-Benz W203

Front wheel suspension:

1 - upper support;

2 - helical spring;

3 - connecting rod;

4 - shock absorber;

5 - cross link (rear wishbone);

6 — stabilizer bar;

7 - stretching (front wishbone);

8 - tie rod;

9 - knuckle;

10 - suspension strut;

11 - cross member;

12 - steering mechanism.

The front suspension in the form of triangular wishbones on each side has McPherson struts and a torsion bar anti-roll bar. The third arm of the front suspension is the tie rod that connects the steering gear to the wheels.

The suspension struts consist of coil springs, double tube dampers and oversized top mounts. The stabilizer does not participate in the direction of the wheels, but is connected to the suspension struts through connecting rods.

Optimum driving characteristics and minimum tire wear are only achieved when the wheels are in the correct position. In the event of incorrect tire wear or lack of road holding, optical measurements must be taken and, if necessary, the wheel alignment must be adjusted.
