If the vacuum booster fails, the force on the brake pedal increases significantly, which negatively affects the driving of the Skoda Octavia.
If the effort on the pedals during braking has noticeably increased compared to normal, check the brake booster with the vehicle stationary.
To check the vacuum brake booster Skoda Octavia you will need: pliers, rubber pear.
1. With the engine off, press the brake pedal five or six times (with an interval of about 5 seconds) and, keeping the brake pedal depressed, start the engine. The brake pedal should move forward. If it doesn't, check...

2. ... the tightness of the vacuum hoses on the intake manifold A, on the non-return valve B.

3. ... and on the housing of the vacuum brake booster

4. Check the tightness of the vacuum hoses on the tee ...

5. ... landing of a hose on the vacuum electric pump...
NOTE
The electric vacuum pump is established only on cars with the petrol engine and an automatic transmission.

6. ... and the landing of vacuum hoses on the check valve from the vacuum pump.
7. For check of work of the check valve of the vacuum amplifier of brakes disconnect a hose from the vacuum amplifier of brakes
NOTE
The vacuum hose of the amplifier of brakes consists of three hoses and the connecting union (tee). To check the check valve, it is necessary to remove the hose attached to the vacuum brake booster.

8. Check the operation of the valve installed in the cavity of the vacuum hose, for which firmly insert the nose of the rubber bulb into the end of the vacuum hose with which the hose was connected to the connecting fitting (tee), and squeeze it. The air from the pear should exit through the valve.
9. Release the pear. If it remains in a compressed state, then the valve is working. In the absence of a pear, you can purge the valve with your mouth.
NOTE

For convenience, an arrow is applied to the check valve. Insert the nose of the rubber bulb into the end of the hose in the direction of this arrow.
10. If the check valve allows air to flow in both directions, replace the vacuum hose and valve assembly.
11. After checking the vacuum brake booster, install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
