Notes:

This article describes how to check the engine oil level on a Skoda Fabia car.

The consumption of engine oil during the operation of the car is completely normal, so you should regularly check the oil level in the engine. Be sure to check the oil level before a long trip.

Engine oil consumption depends on driving style, climate and road conditions. Normal oil consumption can be 1 liter per 1000 kilometers. An unrun-in Skoda Fabia 2 engine can consume a little more.

The manufacturer recommends using oil for Skoda Fabia that meets the requirements of  VW 502 00, 505 00 , viscosity grade SAE 5W-40, 5W-30 .

The oil level gauge (dipstick) is located in the front of the engine compartment.

Warning:

Before checking the oil level after a trip, stop the engine and wait 5-10 minutes until a little has drained into the engine oil sump.

1. Place the car on a level surface and open the hood by placing it on the stop, as described in this article .

Note:

You need to add oil of the same brand, viscosity and quality class as the one used earlier. If you do not know the oil that you used earlier, then you need an oil change in the Skoda engine .

7. Fill the engine with oil, checking its level on the dipstick.

Note:

Before removing the pointer, wait two to three minutes to allow the oil to drain into the crankcase. The oil level in the engine crankcase must not exceed the maximum mark, otherwise there may be leakage through gaskets and seals, increased oil consumption.

8. After the oil level reaches the required level, install and tighten the oil filler cap until it stops. Remove oil spills with a clean rag.

9. Install the decorative engine protection in place, as described in this article .

Useful advice:

To facilitate topping up the oil, it is convenient to use a funnel. In the absence of a funnel for adding oil, you can make a funnel from the neck of a plastic bottle.
