- rags
- Funnel (as needed)
- Coolant Renault Glaceol RX Type D - 7711428132 (G12)
Notes:
It is advisable to check the fluid level in the expansion tank of the cooling system at each inspection of the car before leaving, and always in case of engine overheating and the associated release of fluid from the system.
Check with your car dealer for the brand of fluid filled in your Renault Duster. Do not mix liquids of different colors and different manufacturers. If you do not know the brand of the liquid filled in, and the liquid needs to be topped up, replace all the liquid in the cooling system. Only use products from trusted manufacturers. Remember that the use of poor quality coolant leads to costly engine repairs.
Renault Duster coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it. Never leave antifreeze spilled on the floor or store it in an open container.
The fluid level should be checked on a cold engine.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground, allow the engine to cool, and open the hood. The coolant reservoir is located in the left rear of the engine compartment in the direction of travel of the vehicle.
2. Visually check up level of a cooling liquid in a tank. It must be between the MAXI and MINI marks on the side wall of the expansion tank. When the engine is warmed up to operating temperature, the coolant level in the reservoir may be slightly above the MAXI mark. If the fluid level is at or below the MINI mark, coolant must be added.
3. To add coolant, first turn counterclockwise and remove the cap from the expansion tank.
Warning:
On a hot engine, the fluid in the cooling system is under pressure. To avoid burns, do not remove the expansion tank cap until the engine has cooled below 60°C.
Before removing the expansion tank cap, unscrew it first two turns to reduce the pressure in the cooling system. After the pressure has been released, remove the cap.
4. Add Renault Duster antifreeze, slightly without bringing the level to the MAXI mark.
Warning:
Do not pour liquid into the Renault Duster expansion tank above the MAXI mark, as the volume of liquid increases when the engine is running. When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed.
5. Close the cap of the coolant expansion tank tightly by turning it clockwise until it stops. Clean up spilled coolant with a rag.
Notes:
If it is necessary to add liquid to the system on the road, on a hot engine, then stop it, and after waiting at least ten minutes, cover the expansion tank cap with a rag. Slowly unscrew the cap until a characteristic hiss appears. Stop opening the lid until the hissing stops. When the pressure in the system drops slightly, slowly open the cap again. If the hissing appears again, suspend further opening. Repeat the procedure until the pressure drops completely.
Check the coolant level regularly (if there is no coolant, the engine may be damaged). Its sharp decrease or increase should be a signal for an immediate check of the engine cooling system.
When topping up is necessary, use only coolant grades that are approved by the manufacturer's technical departments and provide freeze protection and anti-corrosion protection of the engine cooling system.
If the coolant that has just been poured into the Renault Duster expansion tank suddenly suddenly turns brown quickly, it means that you have been sold a fake, in which they “forgot” to add corrosion inhibitors. Replace the fluid as soon as possible before it has had time to corrode the cooling system.
If the coolant level in the expansion tank is constantly decreasing, then the engine cooling system is most likely leaking, so it is very important to immediately check its tightness and repair the malfunction.
