Note:
The plastic Hyundai Santa Fe fuel tank and filler pipe are non-separable. If a fuel leak is detected from the tank, it is recommended to replace it.
If the fuel filter is frequently clogged, remove and flush the tank with filler pipe.
It is more convenient to remove an empty tank when working on a lift, overpass or inspection ditch.
To remove the remaining fuel, remove the fuel pump module (see "Removal, disassembly, assembly and installation of the fuel module") and pump out fuel through the opened hole in the tank.
Removal and installation of a fuel tank Hyundai Santa Fe
1. Decrease the pressure in the supply system (see "Reducing the pressure in the supply system").
2. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the storage battery.
3. Remove the rear seat (see "Removing and installing the rear seat").
4. Fold down the cut-out section of the carpet on the left.

5. Use a screwdriver to pry off the fuel module door.

6. Swing the cover aside.

7. Depress the retainer and disconnect the harness block from the fuel module.

8. Squeeze the retainer and disconnect the pressure line hose from the union on the fuel module.

9. Fold down the cut-out section of the carpet on the right.

10. Pry with a screwdriver and move aside the fuel module hatch cover.

11. Depress the latch and disconnect the harness connector from the fuel level sensor connector.

12. Remove the additional muffler (see "Removal and installation of the additional muffler").
NOTE:
On four-wheel drive vehicles, remove the driveshafts (see "Removing and installing the driveshaft").
13. Use a screwdriver to pry off the harness retainer.

14. Disconnect the harness from the heat shield.

15. Loosen the clamp securing the filler pipe hose to the Hyundai Santa Fe fuel tank connection. Slide the clamp over the hose.

16. Disconnect the hose.

17. Release the lock and disconnect the atmospheric hose of the canister of the fuel vapor recovery system from the branch pipe.

18. Remove the three bolts securing the canister cover.

19. Pull down the casing with the adsorber.

20. Squeeze the bent ears of the fastening clamps, slide the clamps along the hoses and disconnect the hoses from the adsorber.

21. Remove the adsorber hoses from the brackets on the body.

22. Install a support under the Hyundai Santa Fe fuel tank.

23. Unscrew the nuts securing the front of the fastening clamps.

24. Remove the rear parts of the fastening clamps from the grooves in the body and remove the clamps.

25. Lower the fuel tank 10-15 cm.
26. Squeeze the clips on the air vent hose and disconnect the hose from the fuel tank fitting.

27. Remove the fuel tank from Hyundai Santa Fe.

28. Install the fuel tank and all parts in the reverse order of removal.
