Note:
The clutch master cylinder is removed for replacement in case of failure. The master cylinder is mounted on the clutch pedal bracket and is located high under the front panel, so the process of replacing it is quite laborious.
Removing the clutch master cylinder Ford Focus 2
In the engine compartment, we pump out part of the brake fluid from the supply tank so that its level is below the fitting for connecting the filler tube of the clutch release drive.
We disconnect the coupling of the filler tube of the clutch release drive from the supply tank.
We disconnect the tubes connecting the master and slave cylinders of the clutch. The clutch is fixed through a rubber support in the bracket under the vacuum brake booster.
To disconnect, pry off the spring retainer with a screwdriver and slide it up.
And then we take out the tip of the tube from the coupling.
We take out the clutch with a rubber support from the mounting bracket.
Note:
In the passenger compartment, we shift the driver's seat back to the stop. For greater clarity, the further process of removing the clutch master cylinder is shown on a car with the front panel and steering shaft removed.
Remove the pedal position sensor.
We take it to the side on the wiring harness.
We take out the caps for fastening the wiring harness from the holes in the pedal bracket (this operation can be performed even after removing the bracket).
With a key or a “10” head, we unscrew the four nuts securing the clutch pedal bracket to the car body.
We remove the bracket from the mounting studs together with the tubes of the hydraulic clutch release.
At the same time, we carefully remove the tubes from the hole in the car body leading to the engine compartment from the passenger compartment.
We carry out further work on the workbench.
Having picked up the spring retainer with a screwdriver, we remove the tip of the tube from the coupling on the body of the Ford Focus 2 clutch master cylinder.
Squeezing the plastic retainer, disconnect the filler tube from the fitting on the clutch master cylinder housing.
The tip of the clutch master cylinder rod is fixed in the pedal body with a plastic retainer.
Squeeze the plastic retainer with two screwdrivers.
We take it out of the body of the pedal.
The clutch master cylinder housing is fixed in the pedal bracket. Turn the master cylinder body clockwise so that the protrusions on the cylinder body are aligned with the grooves in the bracket.
We take out the Ford Focus 2 clutch master cylinder from the bracket.
We assemble the node in the reverse order. After assembly, it is necessary to add brake fluid to the supply tank to the maximum level and bleed the clutch release hydraulic drive.
