Tools:
- Screwdriver flat medium
Parts and consumables:
- Staple, which can be made from a metal bar (the internal dimension of the staple must be 154 mm)
- Gasoline for washing the strainer
- Fuel gauge sensor
- Fuel pump
- Fuel module assembly
Notes:
We carry out work to clean the strainer, replace the fuel gauge sensor, fuel pump or fuel module assembly.
Removing and disassembling the fuel module in a Ford Focus 2 car
1. Relieve pressure in the power system, disconnect the wire terminal from the "negative" terminal of the battery and remove the fuel tank.
Note:
It is necessary to remove the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump because the Ford Focus 2 does not have a hatch in the base of the body above the fuel module, so access to it is impossible when the tank is installed on the car.
2. Unscrew the fuel tank cap using a bracket that you can make yourself. To do this, we bend a metal bar, while the inner size of the bracket should be 154 mm.
3. When installing, the fuel module can be oriented by the arrow on its body and the marks on the tank.
4. We take out the Ford Focus 2 fuel module from the fuel tank opening.
5. Remove the sealing ring from the fuel tank neck.
6. Using a screwdriver, we press the clamp of the fuel gauge sensor.
7. We shift the sensor along the guides of the fuel module housing.
8. Disconnect the wire ends of the fuel gauge sensor from the terminals on the top cover of the module and remove the sensor.
9. With a screwdriver, we squeeze out the four latches on the body of the Ford Focus 2 fuel module.
10. Remove the bottom cover of the module.
11. Remove the fuel pump from the fuel module.
12. Using a screwdriver, press the latch and, having disconnected the wire block from the fuel pump motor, remove it.
13. Remove the locking bracket.
14. Using a screwdriver, remove the strainer from the fuel pump.
15. Using a screwdriver, we press the two fixing tabs in the glass of the top cover (for clarity, it is shown on the removed top cover).
16. Remove the top cover and spring from the fuel module housing. We also remove the plastic corrugated tube from the fittings of the top cover and the fuel filter of the Ford Focus 2 module.
17. We assemble and install the fuel module in the reverse order.
Warning:
The fuel pump module must be installed in a strictly defined position, aligning the marks made on the fuel tank and on the module body, otherwise it will not be possible to connect fuel lines to the module fittings.
Notes:
Wash the mesh filter in gasoline before installation.
After installing the fuel tank, it is necessary to check the tightness of the fuel module connections. To do this, connect the wire terminal to the "negative" terminal of the battery and turn on the ignition.
