Shock Absorber Diagram:
- 1 - nut, 25Nm, self-locking;
- 2 - shock absorber support;
- 3 - compression stroke buffer;
- 4 - protective cover;
- 5 - shock absorber.
Note:
A special tool is required to remove the shock absorber. HUNDRED AUDI use for this purpose a compression tool VAG1752/1, an adapter VAG 1752/9 and a spring holder VAG 1752/16.

1 . To remove the shock absorber, mark the direction of rotation of the wheel with an arrow on the tire. Loosen the wheel bolts. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle and remove the wheel.
2 . Remove the spring, refer to Removing and Installing the Coil Spring .
3 . Loosen the nut ( 1 ) and remove the bolt.
4 . Remove the bolt ( 2 ).
Note:
The wheel cover is not removable.
5 . Take out the shock absorber.
6 . When loosening and tightening the nuts of the shock absorber support, keep the rod from turning. HUNDRED AUDI use a special tool 3017A for this.

7 . Installing the rear shock absorber. Install the support on the shock absorber and secure it with a new self-locking nut with a torque of 25 Nm.
8 . Tighten the bolts ( 2 ) to 36Nm. Check the position of the bottom mount.
9 . First tighten the lower shock absorber mounting nut ( 1 ) to 30Nm.
10 . Reinstall the spring, refer to the appropriate section .
11 . Observing the direction of rotation of the wheel, secure the rear wheel, lower the car onto the wheels and only then tighten the wheel bolts to a torque of 120 Nm.
Tightening of a nut of the lower fastening of the shock-absorber
1 . Lower the car onto its wheels.
2 . Loosen the lower shock mount.
3 . Push the suspension of the car several times.
4 . Tighten the new nut ( 1 ) to 150Nm and then tighten it by 90°.
