Removal and installation of the steering wheel Skoda Octavia

Tool:

• Straight box wrench 10 mm
• Key with Torx tip (asterisk) Т55
• Screwdriver flat medium

Parts and consumables:

• Steering wheel bolt
• Anaerobic sealant

1.  Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery.

2.  Remove the airbag module.

3.  Loosen the steering wheel bolt while holding the wheel from turning.

Note:

You can fix the steering wheel of the Skoda Octavia from turning using the locking mechanism of the anti-theft device of the ignition switch. To do this, remove the key from the ignition lock and turn the steering wheel until the shaft is fixed with an anti-theft device. After loosening the steering wheel mounting bolt, turn off the anti-theft device by inserting the key into the ignition switch, and return the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.

4.  Screw in the steering wheel mounting bolt a few turns and with sharp blows of the hands knock the steering wheel off the splines of the shaft.

5.  Completely turn out a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel.

6.  Remove the Skoda Octavia steering wheel from the steering shaft.

7.  Establish a steering wheel and the removed details in an order, the return to removal.

Note:

Replace the steering wheel bolt every time you remove the steering wheel. Lubricate the bolt threads with an anaerobic sealant.
