Removing and replacing headlight bulbs in a Ford Focus 2 car

Note:

Bulbs can only be replaced with the headlights removed.

Removing the Ford Focus 2 headlight

To remove the headlight, open the hood.

Using a Torx T-30 wrench or a slotted screwdriver, unscrew the self-tapping screw securing the headlight to the upper cross member of the engine compartment.

From below, the headlight is attached to the cross member of the engine compartment with two plastic clips - for clarity, they are shown on the removed headlight.

We take the headlight block away from the body for the convenience of disconnecting the wire block.

Press on the wire harness lock.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the headlight assembly harness.

Replacing headlight bulbs Ford Focus 2

To replace the turn signal lamp, turn the protective cover counterclockwise until it stops and remove it.

We take out the cartridge together with the lamp.

Turn the bulb clockwise and remove from the socket.

The direction indicators in the headlights use 21W orange PY21W bulbs. The protrusions on the base of such a lamp are not symmetrical and enter the grooves of the cartridge in only one position.

To replace the low beam bulb, remove the protective cover.

We press the clamp of the block of wires and remove the block.

We take out the low beam lamp, holding it by the contacts.

The headlights are equipped with H7 low beam halogen lamps with a power of 55 watts. When installing them, do not touch the flasks with your fingers, as fingerprints can cause local darkening of the glass. If you accidentally touch the lamp bulb, wipe it with a clean cloth dampened with alcohol or glass cleaner, and then dry it with a clean cloth.

To replace the headlight bulb, remove the protective cover.

Press on the wire harness lock.

We remove the block and take it aside.

We take out the high beam lamp, holding it by the contacts.

The headlights are equipped with H1 high beam halogen lamps with a power of 55 watts.

To replace the side light bulb, remove the protective cover.

Grasping the tab of the lamp socket, turn it counterclockwise.

We remove the cartridge from the socket of the headlight housing.

We take out the lamp directly by its flask from the contact clamps of the cartridge.
The side light lamp is designated W5W and has a power of 5 watts. Install the new headlight bulb in reverse order.
