Note:
Removing the balance mechanism cover is described here .
1. Turn driven gear #1 of balance shaft #1 in the direction of rotation until it stops, making sure that the marks on gears #1 and #2 are aligned.

2. Place the balance shafts in the crankcase.
3. Apply a little engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the balancing mechanism cover bolts.
4. Evenly, in several passes, in the sequence shown in the figure, tighten the 8 fastening bolts with a tightening torque of 22 Nm.

5. Mark the bolts.
6. Tighten the bolts 90° in the above sequence.
7. Verify that the marks on the bolts are now at 90° from their original position.
