Good day and night everyone!
This entry does not contain any particularly important information ... please do not judge strictly for the flood. In any case, it is no less informative than many popular records about washing and “beautiful numbers” on the odometer ... it’s even more of a question ... I tried to find information through a search, I didn’t find anything ...
The bottom line is the following ... the other day I, studying the pins used in the polo sedan and connectors, I was very surprised when I removed the "703" connector (full number 3d0 973 703) from the speed sensor (as I thought) ...

Speed sensor.

Now it is clear that this is a stub ...

It’s not news to me that on many cars that have ABS, there is no speed sensor, and the signal for determining the speed is taken from the ABS sensors installed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe wheels of the car ... I was struck by another moment ... I don’t understand why Vag’s design engineers, who, to put it mildly speaking, they are not particularly distinguished by excessive generosity (and this is especially evident on the polo sedan, where they goof, and contrary to the general unification of production, they develop a bunch of wiring options, so that God forbid not to leave at least one additional wiring, they develop “stripped down” blocks of VSM, especially for Russia, etc. and here is such a generous gift… a piece of wiring, and even a connector!
Well, seriously, I wanted to ask knowledgeable people why this is so? I don’t really believe in the “generosity” of the vags, but I also don’t find a reason why they didn’t just cut off this wire and connector ...
and is it like that for everyone (cars with abs and esp)? Maybe I just have a "limited edition" ...
and logically, they could even save a "lot of dough" by removing unnecessary elements from the checkpoint, including a plug ...
By the way, the "donated" connector with the number 3d0 973 703 is used on our car for A/C pressure sensor...

True, there, I don’t know how others used it, they used the Chinese version of the connector ... opponents of the Chinese industry can rearrange the connector from the speed sensor here.

And the camshaft position sensor...

But here is the German version, the same as on the speed sensor ...

Well, that's all I wanted to share!

There were configurations without ABS. There this sensor was needed. With ABS is not needed, so they stopped using it. It's easier to make a 20 cent plug than to change the wiring. Although in the near future most likely the wiring will be redone.
