Renault Duster oil and oil filter change

Note:

In accordance with the maintenance regulations. Renault Duster oil must be replaced every 15 thousand kilometers. When changing the oil, the oil filter must also be changed.

We show the operations for changing oil and oil and the oil filter on a 2.0 liter engine; on a 1.6 engine, the replacement is carried out similarly.

We perform work on a viewing ditch or overpass.

We carry out the replacement on an idle but warm engine (it is better immediately after the trip, until the oil has cooled down).  

Renault Duster oil and oil filter change operations

1. Remove the decorative casing from the engine.

2. Unscrew the oil filler cap.

3. We substitute a container under the drain plug with a volume of at least 6 liters for a 2 liter engine and 5 liters for a 1.6 engine.

4. We unscrew the crankcase protection, since it is very problematic to get to the oil filter from above (see photo).

Note:

The photo shows how difficult it is to remove the oil filter from the Renault Duster from above.

5. Remove the protection from the car.

6. Unscrew the drain plug with an 8 mm square wrench (the protection has not yet been removed from the machine).

Note:

A steel washer is installed under the cork.

7. To prevent leakage of engine oil from the oil pan, a layer of rubber is vulcanized over the surface of the washer hole. In case of damage to the rubber seal of the washer, replace the washer with a new one. In the absence of a new standard washer, a copper washer with a hole diameter of 18 mm can be installed under the cork.

8. Unscrew the oil filter with a chain wrench, or by punching it with a screwdriver and unscrewing it with this screwdriver.

9. Remove the oil filter from the car.

10. Drain the Renault Duster oil for at least ten minutes. Then we wrap and tighten the drain plug.

11. We remove oil drips from the engine crankcase and protection of the power unit.

12. We clean the filter seat from dirt and oil drips.

13. We apply a thin layer of engine oil to the filter o-ring and wrap the filter by hand until the o-ring comes into contact with the seating surface. We install an oil filter with a catalog number - 7700 274 ​​177 (Renault).

Note:

The same oil filter is used when changing oil for Renault Logan.

14. Turn the filter another 2/3 turn to seal the connection.

15. Through the oil filler neck, pour 2.0 - 5.4 liters of engine oil into the engine, and 1.6 - 4.8 liters into the engine. In fact, the volume indicated in the instructions may not enter the engine, since some amount of oil will remain in the engine and, accordingly, will occupy a certain volume.

16. Close the oil filler cap.

17. We start the engine for 1-2 minutes. We make sure that the indicator of insufficient (emergency) oil pressure in the engine has gone out in the instrument cluster and there are no oil leaks from under the drain plug and oil filter.

18. Stop the engine. Check the oil level, top up if necessary.

Changing the oil on a Renault Duster car with an oil change alert system

 In some cases, the car may be equipped with an oil change alert system that will alert you to the need for an oil change every 15,000 km. After changing the oil on the Renault Duster, you need to reset the mileage for the system. Reset is as follows: turn on the ignition and within 10 seconds press the gas pedal, hold it and press the brake pedal 3 times. As a result, the readings of the system are reset.

If the oil change was carried out before the oil change indicator lamp came on, then resetting the readings in this case is necessary in the same way as if this lamp was on.
