Notes:
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the oil in the Nissan Qashqai engine should be replaced after 1 year of operation or 15 thousand kilometers (whichever comes first).
The manufacturer recommends using oils of quality level SL or SM, according to ACEA A1 / B1 viscosity grade SAE 5W-30. It is allowed to use oils of viscosity class SAE 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50, 15W-40, 15W-50. When choosing an oil, use the figure below.
Recommendations for the selection of engine oil by viscosity depending on climatic conditions
Advice:
In severe operating conditions, in a large city or in very dusty areas, change the oil and filter every 10 thousand km.
Drain the oil after driving while the engine is still warm. If the engine is cold, start and warm it up to operating temperature .
Fill with the same brand of oil as the oil that was in the engine. If you still decide to change the brand or type of oil, flush the lubrication system with flushing oil or oil of the brand that will be used. To do this, after draining the old oil, fill in new oil to the lower hole of the dipstick.
Changing the oil and oil filter in a Nissan Qashqai engine
1. Start the engine and let it run for 10 minutes. at idle. Drain the oil and only then change the oil filter. Now you can fill in new oil to the required level (up to the top hole on the dipstick). Loosen and remove the oil filler cap.
2. Clean the engine oil drain plug with a wire brush and then with a rag.
3. Loosen the drain plug.
4. Unscrew the plug, after substituting the container for the drained oil, and drain the engine oil from the Nissan Qashqai into a suitable container.
Warning:
When draining the oil, be careful - it is hot!
5. Close the cap.
Warning:
At each oil change, the aluminum O-ring should also be replaced with a new one.
6. Remove the oil filter with a special key.
7. Turning away by hand, remove the oil filter.
Advice:
After draining the oil from the crankcase, a certain amount of old oil remains in the filter housing. When the filter is unscrewed, it flows out, dirtying the engine and nearby units. To avoid this, place a cleaning cloth under the filter before unscrewing it.
In the absence of a special key for unscrewing the oil filter, you can use a universal key or a puller. If there is no such key or puller, pierce the filter housing with a screwdriver and, using it as a lever, unscrew the filter.
Punch the filter as close to the bottom as possible so as not to damage the fitting. You can also use a strip of coarse sandpaper folded in half, wrapping it around the filter and moving it out of place with your hands.
8. To remove dirt and old oil, carefully wipe the mating surface of the cylinder block flange with a rag.
9. Fill the new filter about 1/3 of its capacity with clean engine oil.
10. Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with clean engine oil and tighten (by hand, without using a tool) the filter 3/4 turn from the moment the O-ring comes into contact with the cylinder block flange.
11. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
12. Wait 3-5 minutes to allow the oil to drain into the crankcase, remove the oil level indicator (dipstick).
13. Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth and reinsert.
14. Remove the pointer (probe) again. The oil film level should be between the two holes at the end of the dipstick. If the oil level does not reach the bottom hole, add oil.
15. Add oil to the engine, controlling its level according to the pointer. Before removing the pointer, wait 2-3 minutes to allow the oil to drain into the crankcase.
16. After the oil level reaches the required level, tighten the filler cap.
17. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes (the emergency oil pressure drop indicator should go out 2-3 seconds after the engine is started). While the engine is running, check for oil leaks from under the drain plug and oil filter. Stop the engine, check the oil level, add oil if necessary, tighten the plug and filter.
