Tool:
- Flat screwdriver
Consumables:
- Coolant G12
- Container with a capacity of at least 8 liters.
Note:
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the Skoda Octavia coolant should be replaced after 6 years of operation or 90 thousand kilometers, whichever comes first.
Warning:
Change the Skoda Octavia coolant only on a cold engine. The coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it. When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed. Screw the tank cap tightly. The cooling system is pressurized when the engine is running, so coolant may leak from under the loose cap.
1. Install the car on a flat horizontal platform.
2. Turn off a stopper of a broad tank.
3. Press out the locking bracket with a flat screwdriver
4. Remove the lower hose from the radiator pipe and drain the Skoda coolant into a container.
5. Connect a hose to a branch pipe of a radiator.
6. Fill in a cooling liquid in a broad tank to the top label.
G12 plus plus 1.5l + distilled water
7. Wrap a stopper of a broad tank.
8. After replacing the Skoda Octavia coolant, start the engine, increase the crankshaft speed to 2000 min-1 and let it run until the fan turns on. After that, turn off the engine, check the coolant level and, if necessary, add it to the expansion tank to the upper mark.
Note:
When the engine is running, watch the coolant temperature on the gauge. If the coolant temperature gauge is in the red sector of the scale, and the radiator fan does not turn on, turn on the heater and check how much air comes out of it. If the heater supplies heated air, the fan is most likely defective, and if it supplies cold air, then an air lock has formed in the engine cooling system. To remove it, turn off the engine, let it cool and unscrew the plug of the expansion tank. Start the engine, let it run for 3-5 minutes and tighten the reservoir cap.
