The condition of the brake pads is recommended to be checked at every maintenance.
Brake pads on a Honda Civic must be replaced when the pads are worn, if the pads are not firmly connected to the base, if the working surfaces are oiled, if there are deep grooves or chips. The minimum allowable thickness of friction linings is 1.6 mm.
Replace front brake pads on both front wheels at the same time (set of 4).

1. When replacing pads on the left side, turn the steering wheel to the left in advance, when replacing pads on the right side - to the right.

3. Under the hood, open the brake reservoir cap and check the fluid level.
Note:
When the pads are worn, the fluid may be greater than the upper limit, which is fraught with overflow during the pistons divorce. If necessary, remove excess with a syringe.
4. Use a wheelbrace to loosen the front wheel nuts.
5. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it on secure stands.
6. Remove the front wheel.
7. While holding the guide pin with a 19 mm wrench, use a 14 mm spanner to remove the lower caliper-to-sliding bracket bolt.
8. Remove the bolt.
9. Raise the caliper up.
Note:
If the caliper cannot be removed, you can try to open the pads: insert a screwdriver between the brake disc and the pad. Tap the screwdriver with a hammer to loosen them a little.
10. Lock the caliper in such a position that it does not stress the brake hose.
11. Remove the outer inner brake pads Honda Civic from the movable bracket of the guides.
12. Pry with a flathead screwdriver and remove the lower and upper fixing springs from the movable bracket.
13. Using sliding pliers or clamps, drown the cylinder piston.
Note:
Squeeze the piston very slowly and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir frequently to avoid overfilling.
14. Replace the Honda Civic front brake pads with new ones.
15. Moisten with brake cleaner and clean the pad guides and the edge of the brake disc with a wire brush.
16. Check up a condition of rubber protective covers directing fingers and movement of a support concerning a mobile bracket of directing
pads. If movement is difficult, lubricate the caliper guide pins with brake caliper grease.
17. Install the retaining springs and brake pads on the Honda Civic
in the reverse order of removal.
18. In order to select the gaps in the brake mechanism, press the brake pedal to the stop several times.
19. Check up and if necessary restore level of a brake liquid
in a tank of the main brake cylinder.
20. In the same way, replace the front brake pads on the Honda Civic and on the other wheel.
